Job Description
Overview:
The Fundraising Copywriter reports to the Director of Postal Direct Response and is responsible for writing letters, emails, landing pages, reports, phone scripts, and other fundraising copy that drives results; editing and managing copy produced by outside vendors for consistency with the College’s style/voice; and managing the fundraising copy development process from concept to approval to final output.
Responsibilities:
- Write fundraising copy—including letters, emails, landing pages, scripts, reports—that compels action and generates strong results.
- Edit and manage fundraising copy generated by agency partners to ensure a consistent and appropriate voice.
- Manage the fundraising copy production process from concept to final output.
- Optimize the College’s fundraising copy through constant and consistent testing.
- Learn new copywriting techniques and skills, as well as staying current with trends in fundraising and direct response.
Other Skills
Possess impeccable written grammar and demonstrated mastery of the written word.
- Be familiar with MS Office suite; design software such as Adobe CS; and business reporting software such as DOMO.
- Be creative, capable of creating new ideas and themes and adapting old ones to new situations.
- Have a thorough understanding of direct response fundraising principles, including writing donor-centered copy.
- Be a learner—teachable, humble, and adaptable—especially when it comes to creative output.
