About the team and position

This process management role reports to the Senior Corporate Counsel, Labor & Employment and will actively drive and monitor compliance management efforts related to federal, state, and local labor and employment law. This role is not primarily a people manager role and is responsible for owning and managing multiple critical compliance processes for the Company.


What you'll be doing

  • Work with internal stakeholders to design, develop, implement, and manage an effective labor and employment related compliance program.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to draft appropriate compliance policies and protocols on behalf of the organization; and to identify and establish a system for tracking compliance metrics to help track compliance efforts.
  • Apply attention to detail, analytical thinking skills, and an ability to interpret complex policies and regulatory rules to help the organization manage risk and promote compliance with applicable law, internal policies, and best practices.
  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of local, state and federal law to identify and provide feedback to internal stakeholders regarding existing policies and business processes, and recommendations to policy and process improvements, best practices and appropriate training..
  • Regularly access and audit company procedures, practices, and policy documents to identify opportunities for improvements and to reduce risk.
  • Effectively communicate recommendations about best practices and policy changes to appropriate internal stakeholders, and create and manage effective action plans.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to resolve employee concerns about legal compliance; ensure managers and employees are educated on labor and employment related policies and practices; and assist with developing and maintaining compliance resource libraries.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, federal, and state labor and employment regulatory requirements.

What you should know

To be able to do your job at Carvana, there are some basic requirements we want to share with you.

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent years of experience, in business administration, human resource management, or a related field.
  • 4+ years proven experience in a compliance (process/project) management role, including human resource management or similar role in employment law field.
  • Experience successfully using change management techniques.
  • Proficiency in G-Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of employment related regulatory and compliance requirements in multi-jurisdictions.
  • Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, with tight deadlines, in a multi-tasking work environment.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others effectively in a professional, courteous manner verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English effectively.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to sit for up to eight hours per day with extensive use of computers.
