Job Summary:

Line Cooks are in charge of prepping food and plating dishes according to a restaurant's menu specifications. Line Cooks perform a broad range of kitchen support activities to support effective and efficient back-of-house (BOH) operations. Key responsibilities involve planning, prepping, setting up and providing quality food. Line Cooks are also responsible for general food safety, and ensuring that the kitchen is kept clean and sanitized according to Health Code regulations and company policies.


Essential Job Duties:

  • Performs the full range of food planning, preparation, set-up work, station breakdown, cleaning and sanitation activities to support the production of quality service for all dining shifts, according to established BOH policies, procedures and guidelines, IDPRP manual, and management directives.
  • Prepares and cooks all food items in accordance with established recipes and product sensitivity requirements, specifications from Chef, plate presentation guidelines, and responds to special food requests at the Chef’s direction.
  • Receives, replenishes, and rotates stock according to established BOH policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform the full range of cleaning and sanitation for all kitchen-related items and equipment, designated spaces and waste materials according to established safety and sanitation standards.
  • Maintains knowledge of recipe changes to ensure proper execution of recipe procedures and maintain high quality and consistent food products.
  • As requested by management, performs other work activities, such as stock counts, labeling and signage of products to support safe and efficient kitchen operations.

Education and Certification:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Current food safety certification, such as ServSafe and SafeStaff (Can obtain upon hire).

Experience:

  • 2 years' related experience

  • Ability to read and comprehend data sources, recipes and manuals, written work instructions, policies, procedures and other work materials in English in order to perform essential duties in accordance with safety, sanitation and operational standards and trainings
  • Ability to read and follow safety instructions related to the utilization of cutting ware and other safety equipment
  • Skill in the preparation of various recipes

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent lifting, moving and carrying of kitchen ware, cleaning equipment, food boxes, garbage etc. weighing up to 40 pounds in the BOH.
  • Exposure to hot and damp temperature fluctuations
