Reason for the need:

Tompkins is in the process of modernizing its technology operations and platforms, which will allow it to increase market share and customer satisfaction considerably. Their legacy platforms were written in C++/OOP and leaned a ton on SQL code calling old ODBC drivers. Much of this code is old and not well documented, so being able to read C++ and SQL is required to be effective here.

Current state, they are doing a nextgen technology rewrite, porting code from C++ to C#/Visual Studio 2022, Windows Services (no web, current state) and heavy SQL, stored procedures and custom DLL work. In addition to the rewrite, they will be adding new functionality and modularizing the platform, improving coding standards.

Future state, they will be adding some web functionality, additional reporting capabilities and some AI solutions into their environment … so any experience in those domains is a huge plus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Although remote, location preferences: (1) Charlotte (Dev Lead/Architect is here and he would love to have people he can whiteboard with on occasion); (2) NC or SC; (3) Orlando (where their HQ is)
• The dev lead is OOO for 10 days starting next week – if we can get someone in to start Thu, he would love to have two days to download with someone before he leaves … if we don’t get someone in by then, things will be on hold until later in the month

o Working through contract with their HR – confirming we don’t need to do a background check, which will slow the process

Comfortable reading/deciphering old, C++ spaghetti code

Someone who can help add new standards to their dev protocols - work closely with lead engineer/architect
