Summary:

We are seeking an outstanding and highly motivated Research Associate I to support research activities in the Commisso lab (www.commissolab.com). This position will work closely with the staff scientist and/or post-doctoral fellow team members to conduct in-vitro and in-vivo experiments and contribute to research discovery efforts and preclinical evaluations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Animal study preparation (body weight, shaving, randomization), necropsy, collection of blood, tumor and other organs.
• Support mouse breeding colony and disease models including breeding setup and genotyping.
• Performing in-vitro experiments including but not limit to cell culture, microscopy and immunofluorescence, DNA/RNA/protein extraction, PCR, Western Blotting, flow cytometry and IHC.
• Support laboratory operations including stocking supplies, inventory and database maintenance.
• Perform general duties to support the safe and efficient operation of the laboratory as required.
• Assisting with other related procedures as assigned by the supervisor.

Education and/other Experience:

• Bachelor degree in Biological Sciences or related field.
• Must have a least 2 years of prior laboratory experience in an academic or industry working in field of oncology.
• Demonstrated proficiency in mice handling, dosing (IP, IV, PO, SC), blood collection, and basic surgical techniques is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, histology, and imaging is plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Other Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

• Must be willing to work occasional weekend and holidays to support animal or cell-based studies.
• Must have good work ethic, detail-oriented and enthusiastic for laboratory work.
• Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
• Must be a team-player, reliable, dependable and flexible in adapting to change in a fast-paced working environment
• Demonstrate professional communication and interpersonal skills with all team members

Compensation:

The rate range for this position is $20.11 - $28.58/hour commensurate with experience.
