POSITION OVERVIEW
The Parts Room Attendant is responsible for ordering, receiving, selling, and keeping an accurate inventory of all parts in the service center. The Parts Room Attendant works closely with the service writer and technicians to ensure proper communication and efficiency in the service center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide our customers with a positive service experience and assure customer satisfaction
- Responsible for the organization and upkeep of the service parts bin system
- Maintain accurate inventory counts of all parts of the service center
- Properly price out parts for customers and work orders and receive quotes from suppliers
- Generate parts purchase orders; receive items and maintain an accurate inventory system
- Ensure that all parts are in a controlled environment. Any part that is removed from the designated area must be logged in to Dealership Advantage before it’s removed
- Actively communicate with clients, team members, and vendors in a professional manner
- Perform Service Writer tasks when the service writer is off duty
- Assist in keeping detailed, accurate records on service work, warranties, internal billing, etc.
- Ensure that work orders and parts invoices are cashiered in an accurate and timely manner
- Clearly communicate billing, inventory, warranty or customer service issues to the Service Manager
- Work with the sales department and pro shop managers to drive more sales from the service and parts departments
- Schedule, coordinate, and supervise warranty orders with technicians, from customer drop off to customer pick up
- Actively communicate with clients, team members, and vendors in a professional manner about warranty issues
- Keep detailed, accurate records on submitted warranties and parts returned
- Approve and upload invoices and any documentation required for accounting to process payments, following Tommy’s Boats SOP’s
- Ensure warranty claims have been submitted within 48 hours of completed work
- Track warranty work orders and warranty submissions and ensure they are billed and paid in a timely manner
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Ensure all local, state, and federal laws are followed
- Be a problem solver willing to tackle anything

- Other tasks as required by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education/Experience: High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred; minimum 1-year service, sales, or watersports experience required
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office required
- MVR: Must have a valid and clear MVR per the company insurance company in order to operate company vehicles/boats
- Trailering: Ability to trailer and launch boats preferred
- Administration and Management: Knowledge of business, management and sales principles, customer service, and coordination of people and resources
- Accounting and Analysis: Ability to understand inventory, costs, and sales
- Communication: Ability to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and company personnel; ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with customers, many of whom are high net-worth individuals
- Mechanical: Ability to understand the mechanical and electrical systems on watercraft and communicate issues to employees and customers
- Characteristics: Humility and willingness to learn; grit and determination to succeed; self-motivated; ability to build and maintain relationships, exhibit intelligence, integrity, and an optimistic outlook

- Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is quiet to medium loud. Work is done in an office, on a boat, on the dock or in a retail space.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time and regularly required to stand and walk. Employee regularly uses hands and fingers to touch, feel, and handle. Employee regularly stoops, kneels, bends at the waist, and reaches. Employee is frequently required to speak and hear. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
