- Pulmonary/Critical care medicine in Salem, OR

Salem Pulmonary Associates, a respected group of eleven physicians specializing in pulmonary diseases, critical care and sleep medicine, supported by a staff of 32+ members, is the only pulmonary/critical care group in Salem, Oregon serving a medical catchment area of approximately 300,000. Our physicians cover the 48 bed ICU and CVCU at Salem Hospital, the largest acute medical facility in Marion County and the only hospital in the city of Salem.

We seek a Physician Assistant to provide support to the physician covering the overnight ICU shift and treating patients in our outpatient pulmonary/sleep medicine clinic:

  • Responsibilities include assisting the overnight physician in the ICU and CVCU including
  • Admitting and rounding in ICU
  • Direct patient care according to established protocols, policies, procedures and accepted standards of care
  • Obtain detailed history, perform physical exams, formulating assessment and plan, documentation, order appropriate diagnostic tests, etc.
  • Performing common critical care procedures like central line and arterial line placement; etc.
  • Rotating shift – scheduled in blocks of 3 nights on (8 pm-7 am) / 6 nights off and 1 40/hr week per month in clinic.
  • Robust support system with 11 intensivists and 4 physician assistants. Working along with and under direct supervision of an intensivist on site all the time.
  • Strong on-boarding program to develop required knowledge and skills to serve ICU level patients as well as ongoing continuous education program offering CME points.
  • The Physician Assistant (PA) will work under the direct supervision of the Physician. Exercises progressive levels of autonomy in day-to-day activities based on satisfactory job performance. Provides specialized services in a team-based, patient centered critical care/pulmonary/sleep medicine practice.
  • Candidates must have or be eligible for an Oregon Physician Assistant license.
