Description

The Terminal Manager manages all rail operations in the terminal and ensures that a high quality of safe, on-time service is mirrored throughout the staff. A successful candidate needs excellent customer service skills, leadership skills, communication skills, problem solving skills, and a proven ability to motivate his/her teams to high performance and a self-starter. We are looking for a strong team member who leads by example and brings an innovative mindset to enhance our Norfolk Southern family!

Principal Duties:
  • Responsible for investigating accidents and injuries to determine cause and minimize future occurrences.
  • Often work with train dispatchers and customer ops group
  • Responsible for the on time inbound and departure of freight trains
  • Plans the operation of local trains to provide required service to customers and fulfill service requirements.
  • Requires a good working knowledge of safety and operating rules, train operations, FRA regulations, hazardous materials, labor agreements, crew call, and other applications.
  • Develops, motivates, and trains employees who work in the assigned territory.

Additional Requirements:
  • There is a lot of bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing on/near equipment
  • You will be standing and walking over uneven terrain
  • Successful completion of the conductor certification is required
  • You will be responsible for supervising Agreement (union) employees
  • Train rides
  • Rule incidents and injury investigations
